Effie Nkrumah (she/her) is a Ghanaian-Australian multi-hyphenate and proud Western Sydney artist, working as an actor, director, host, curator, and writer. Malthouse Theatre credits include Telethon Kid; Who No Kno Go Kno as director; and seven methods of killing kylie jenner as a community engagement consultant. Notable acting credits include La Belle Epoque (Theatre Works); Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Michael Cassel Group). Screen credits include Neighbours, where she also works as a consultant. Directing credits include Ilarun (fortyfivedownstairs), Akaraka (Empty Seat Theatre) and Oshun (La Mama). Effie will be Resident Director for the upcoming Australian premiere of MJ the Musical (Michael Cassel Group). Effie is a contributor in Maxine Beneba Clarke’s Growing Up African in Australia, and is the voice of Astra, the first Ghanaian Agent in Valorant by Riot Games. She is a graduate of Theatre Nepean and holds a Masters in Arts Politics from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Effie also serves on the board of MAV (Multicultural Arts Victoria). Her mission is to ensure people living at the pinpoint of complex intersection, can find a sense of grounding and pride in who they are and renewed curiosity about who they can be.
