Katja Rivas Pinzon

Born in 1986 in Hamburg, Katja Rivas Pinzon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Media from the University of Bayreuth. In 2017, she completed her studies in Artistic Cinematography at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Her graduation film, MAMA TOLD ME NOT TO LOOK INTO THE SUN, received an Honorable Mention for emerging cinematography at the International Women’s Film Festival Cologne in 2018.
She is a founding member of CINEMATOGRAPHINNEN, a German-speaking network for female cinematographers, and has been part of the INTO THE WILD mentoring program for emerging female filmmakers since 2017. She is a junior member of the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK) and being based in Berlin, she is working as a Director of Photography for fictional projects, both for film and television as well as for independent artistic projects.
