Wang Chong 王翀 is recognised around the world as one of Beijing’s most significant theatre directors, celebrated for his visionary experiments with classic and contemporary plays.
Following the sell-out success of Season 2017's Little Emperors 小皇帝 (written by Lachlan Philpott and directed by Wang Chong), Chong returns to Malthouse and collaborates with co-director Emma Valente to shine the spotlight on his own experiences as an artist. In this intimate and unexpected solo, Chong takes us deep inside his creative risk-taking to share a personal manifesto for making trailblazing art back home and abroad.
An illuminating portrait of family and popular culture, Made In China 2.0 is a moving examination of the role of the artist and provocateur in uncertain times.
